"OOHHH, Just-a slishin' and-a splashin'! How 'bout you?"
******
Then today, again in the kiddie pool, she kept asking me if she could lick the water! My obvious response to that was NO. So then I am on the phone with my mom and I catch her licking the water off of her duck and then dipping it in for more!
Me: Brenna, I told you not to drink the water. You know better than that.
B: I'm sorwy, momma, but I have to dwink it. (she said this using the exact same tone and phrasing as I use with her when I am making her do something she doesn't want to do!)

When we took Angela up to college, we went to Denny's to grab some dinner after unpacking. Out of the blue, Brenna looks at me with this twinkle in her eyes and a huge grin on her face.
Brenna: Momma, are you afraid of ducks?
Me: (after several times of saying 'no' and that seemingly being the wrong answer) Yes! I am very afraid of ducks.
Brenna: You must be a monster den (then)!
(haha! If you don't get that story, you've got to read the book "Too Many Monsters" by Eve Bunting. Its a cute book!)
*******
Picture this: Brenna squatting there on the floor knees touching and feet stretching out in opposite directions (kids are so flexible!) and our dog laying down on the floor in front of her with a blanket draped over him, desperately trying to get away. Brenna meanwhile is forcing him down with all her might as she tells him this.
Brenna: (all tender and soft) I know... I know. But you have to sweep (sleep). It is soooo late.
Tag: ... (crickets chirping)
Brenna: (again shoving him down and speaking tenderly) I know, but you need to sweep.... It's alwight. I will be wight here wiff you!
*******
Again, picture this: Brenna has Tag by his front two paws and he is standing on his hind legs. He is looking around frantically, trying to somehow fling his entire body weight up and over one of his arms to get away. Brenna is on the other hand clueless to his distress, and has a huge gleaming smile upon her face!
Brenna: Tag! You're doing it! You're reawy doing it! You're DANCING Tag!
I have been doing preschool with Brenna at home and she absolutely loves it. I will have to give you more details about that later. Anyway, earlier that day we had made autumn leaves with cut up pieces of paper. Brenna had to use a paint brush to put on the glue so her fingers wouldn't get dirty, but occasionally some glue would get on her fingers.
That night when Chris got home from work, she showed him her creation, which was full out mod-podge by time she was through with it!
Chris: Did you have fun making your autumn leaf?
Brenna: (all forlorn) Yea, but I got gwue all over my fingers. (a little more brightly) But it all came off dough. It was a big mess.
(It is really scary sometimes at how much she reminds me of myself! I just have to hope she doesn't end up with all of my crazy quirks!)
One night, Chris and I were working on getting some cleaning done. I actually was deep cleaning Brenna's room when she came across some of her dress up clothes that she hadn't played with in a while, and began to entertain herself. After a little while she came running in the room calling for me.
Brenna: Momma, momma! Come on! We have to go to the party!
Me: The party?!?
Brenna: Ya! The party's wight here! (she pulled me into the hallway where she had draped her boa's over the handles of our laundry closet doors)
Me: What are these? (pointing out the boa's)
Brenna: Dat's my decowations!
*******
Just now, Brenna was getting into the movie cabinet in our entertainment center and she pulled on this thing only to have a stack of dvd's fall in her lap. With movies all over her lap and strewn about her, she turns to me and asks:
"Momma, can you pwease cwean up dis mess?!"
